Mike Moore was born February 11, 1947 in Memphis, TN the son of the late Clarence Lee and Vivian Lucille Stanley Moore.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Ann King.
Mr. Moore proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from September of 1964 until December of 1968. He did two tours in Vietnam. His first tour was with HQ Company, 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines from July 1965 to September 1966. He was on Operation Hastings and served in the Hue and DMZ areas. His second tour was with B Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Marines from May 1968 to July 1968. He fought the North Vietnamese Army and Vietcong during the Tet Offensive in the Da Nang and Fubi areas near Hill 10 and Hill 55. He was severely wounded in a battle there and was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. Moore was eventually transferred to the Navy Hospital in Millington, TN where he recovered and was discharged in December of 1968.
Mr. Moore was a truck driver for 35 years and also worked as a cowboy for the Crescent J Ranch near Orlando, FL. Drag racing was one of his favorite hobbies. He was a member of American Legion Post 162 and the VFW.
Mr. Moore departed this life on May 25, 2020 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 73 Years, 3 Months, 14 Days. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Ann (King) Moore of Selmer, TN; a daughter, Pamela Phillips of Burnsville, MS; two sons, Patrick Moore and wife Samantha of Selmer, TN and Dale Pfaffenberger of Toledo, OH; nine grandchildren: Anthony Phillips, Matthew Phillips, Trey Phillips, Holley Moore, Nathan Moore, Hannah Moore, Caleb Shackelford, Shelby Moore, and Warren Moore; a great-grandchild, Ramsey Phillips; a half-brother, Dempsey Moore of Union City, TN; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Moore, and a half-brother, Vester Moore.
