Medon, TN

Michael (Mike) Lee Sloan, age 66, of Medon, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

Born on April 9, 1959, in Jackson, Tennessee, Mike lived a life defined by hard work, kindness, and a deep love for his family and community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Peggy Sloan, whose values and strengths he carried forward throughout his life.

Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Teresa Sloan; his children, David (Heather) Blackwood and Jennifer (Steven Sharamitaro) Blackwood; his brother, Tim Sloan and family; and his beloved nine grandchildren, Aubrey, Brianna, Celia, Delaney, Brook, Alex, Konner, Blake, and Collin, who knew him best as Papaw. He was a proud and loving father and grandfather, always quick to offer support, wisdom, and humor to those he loved. His family was the center of his world, and their presence in his life was a constant source of strength.

A skilled mechanic, Mike dedicated 37 years of service to the Tennessee Department of Transportation before retiring to pursue his passion for farming. Whether working under the hood of a vehicle or tending to his cows, Mike took great pride in taking care of others. His connection to the land and love for animals were reflections of his grounded, generous spirit.

Mike’s easygoing nature and unwavering honesty earned him lasting friendships. He had a rare ability to connect with people from all walks of life, always ready with a helping hand or a good story. Those who knew him will remember his resilience, warmth, and the quiet strength he brought to every challenge he faced. Mike proudly professed his Christian faith and lived his life accordingly.
