Minnie Jo
Hill
Feb 6, 1941 — Oct 15, 2026
Selmer
Minnie Jo Hill, 85, of Selmer, Tennessee, was born February 6, 1941, and passed away October 15, 2026, in Selmer, Tennessee.
Minnie Jo was a faithful member of Eastside Church of Christ in Selmer, Tennessee, and a woman who found her greatest happiness in the things that made a house a home. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and caring for the people she loved. Her peach cobbler and homemade yeast rolls were family favorites, bringing loved ones together around the table and making memories that will be treasured for generations. Whether working on something with her sewing needle or preparing a meal for those gathered around her, Minnie Jo had a special way of showing her love through the things she did.
One of the most meaningful chapters of Minnie Jo’s life was the love she shared with her husband, Homer Lee Hill. Married on September 5, 1959, they spent more than 67 years building a life together, sharing countless memories and enjoying adventures along the way, including riding motorcycles together. Minnie Jo loved taking care of Homer and made it her mission to see that he was spoiled rotten. Their marriage was a testament to a lifetime of companionship, devotion, and the comfort of having someone by your side through every season of life. His passing on September 29, 2026, just weeks before hers, marked the end of a remarkable life they had shared together.
Minnie Jo’s legacy lives on in the family she loved so dearly, the traditions she created, and the countless ways she made others feel cared for. The recipes she shared, the things she made by hand, and the love she poured into her home will remain part of her family’s story. Though her chair at the table will be empty, the memories made around it will continue to bring comfort and remind her family of the love that held them together.
Mrs. Hill is survived by her son, Jimmy Hill and wife Geneva of Bethel Springs, Tennessee; two daughters, Cathy Carothers of Adamsville, Tennessee, and Ann Talley and husband Billy of Corinth, Mississippi; twelve grandchildren, Mandy Hill, John Carothers and wife Laura, Cortney Terry and husband David, Maegan Mayfield and husband Jonathan, Richard Carothers, Lacie Naylor and husband Josh, Nikki Leath and husband Jon, Sarah Grace Mitchell and husband Robert, Benjamin Carothers and wife Shauna, Dustin Talley and wife Meghan, Thomas Carothers and wife Sarah, and Breanna Talley; a sister, Betty Vetter; a brother-in-law, Billy Joe Hill; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Homer Lee Hill; her mother, Nello Wilson; a brother, Sammy Wilson; a sister, Jo Ann Wilson; a son-in-law, Morris Carothers; and three brothers-in-law, Roy Wayne Hill, John Elbert Hill, and Bob Vetter.
Minnie Jo will be lovingly remembered for her steadfast faith, her devotion to her husband, and the warmth and care she gave to her family. The love she shared will live on in the generations she leaves behind, in the traditions they carry forward, and in the memories that will forever make them smile. Her life was a blessing to those who knew and loved her, and her memory will always have a place at the family table.
