Monte Eugene Doran departed this life on Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at the age of 84 years and 29 days. He was born and raised in Hardin County, Tennessee on January 2, 1933, the son of the late James Edgar and Kate Godwin Doran. On November 15, 1974, he was united in marriage to Shirley Ann DeVore, who survives.
Monte was a veteran of the United States Army and was a self-employed farmer. He was still farming at the age of 84, refusing to slow down. He was a member of the Pickwick Church of Christ and a contributor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. His dedication to hardwork, family, and helping others stayed with him throughout his life. Monte was known for his big heart and was always helping someone out. He was a man no one had a bad word to say about. He didn't want anyone to have a hard time like he had growing up.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shirley Ann Doran of Savannah, Tennessee; son, Jason Doran and wife, Sharon of Savannah, Tennessee; daughter, Carla Alexander and husband, Royce Young of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Kendall Doran, Kaylie Doran, Misty Stricklin Franks, Corey Craig, Casey Craig, Colby Craig, Eric Alexander, and Monica Alexander Stanfill; and eight great-grandchildren; nephews, Allan Doran and his family and Don Doran and his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Earl Alexander and a brother, Douglas Doran.
