Mr. Privett was born and reared in Crockett County, son of the late J.H. and Rosa Privett Privitt. He went to school in Crockett County and in 1945 was married to Mary Elizabeth Singleton. They made were home in Chester County and in Madison County where Mr. Privett farmed and drove a truck. Mrs. Privett died in 1980. Mr. Privett continued to live in Madison County and farm. He married Mary Pollock in 1990 and they made their home at Jacks Creek. Mr. Privett retired in 2005. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Privett is survived by his wife Mary Pollock Privett of Jacks Creek, two sons James Edward Privitt (Glenda) of Jackson and Larry Privett (Rhonda) of Henderson. He has three daughters Doris Lumsden (Ron) of Henderson, Linda Bridger of Jackson and Wanda Hill (Bobby) of Henderson. There are two step children Mary Schewe of Jacks Creek and James Sadler of Masa, Ariz. There are 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Privett has four brothers Earl Privitt of Humboldt, Kuron Privitt of Humboldt, J. D. Privett of Pekin, IL, and Lloyd Privitt of Decaturville. He has a deceased brother Raymond Privett and two deceased sisters Irene Ellington and Eva Privett.
