Henderson, TN: Services for Mrs. Murdell Brewer McCall Barker, age 101 will be held privately with Dr. James Huggins and Dr. Milton Sewell officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery near Jacks Creek.
Mrs. Barker, a homemaker, died Wednesday August 26, 2020 at Jackson General Hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Albert M. Brewer and Mary Melton Brewer. She was born February 19, 1919 in Chester County and lived near Jacks Creek most of her life. She moved to Henderson in 1995.
She was a retired hairdresser. She was owner and operator of Murdell’s Antique Beauty Shop for twenty seven years. She was a member of the Eastern Star, VFW Auxiliary, National Hairdressers Association, and the Jacks Creek F.C.E., having served as its president. She has won several blue ribbons for her sewing and was especially talented for her heirloom sewing. She was an artist and enjoyed sharing her paintings with others. She was a member of the Unity Baptist Church. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
Mrs. Barker was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Camille McCall Bishop of Gulfport, Mississippi; one brother, Leon Brewer of Henderson; one sister, Clyde Butler of Mifflin and two husbands, Marvin McCall who died in 1943 and Travis Barker in 1995.
Mrs. Barker is survived by one son, Joel McCall and wife Janis of Henderson. Other survivors are grandchildren, Hal Bishop, Jr. and wife Denise of Knoxville, Marva Sain and husband Eric of Henderson, Kevin Bishop and wife Juli of Kosciusko, MS, Mollie Forderhase and husband Tim of Jackson and John McCall and wife Holly of Orlando, FL.
Eleven great grandchildren are: Hal Bishop, III, Warren and Camille Bishop, Emily and April Sain, Amanda Stinson, Alexandra and Anna Forderhase, and Anniston, Grady, and Wiley McCall a niece, Trudy B. Calvin of Louisville, KY and two nephews Jeff and Jacky Butler of Mifflin.
Memorial donation may be made to the Unity Cemetery Association Incorporated, 3185 Hwy. 22A, Huron, TN 38345.
There will be a private family graveside service at Unity Cemetery.
