Muril Dean Deatherage
departed this life on Thursday, March 12, 2009, at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee. He was 58 years old and a resident of Savannah, Tennessee.
Muril loved life and lived it to the fullest. He filled his days with work, church, family, and friends. He enjoyed fishing, working in his shop, and using his computer.
Muril was born on November 7, 1950, in Alcorn County, Mississippi to the late Charles and Juanita Booker Deatherage. He grew up in the Childers Hill Community in Counce, Tennessee.
He was a retired employee of TVA with 32 years of service. Presently he was employed by Retiree Resource Corporation in Knoxville, Tennessee. He leaves many friends in the Tennessee Valley Region to mourn his passing.
Muril served proudly in the U.S. Air Force. He was a camera technician and worked on B-52 airplanes. He served during the Vietnam War and attained the rank of Sergeant.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Savannah. He attended the Cora Gene Miller Sunday School Class, sang in the Chancel Choir, served on various committees, and delivered Meals on Wheels.
Muril was a 32nd degree Mason and a past master of Lodge 102. He was also a past member of the Al Chymia Shrine in Memphis, Tennessee. He was very involved in the Raise the Flag Organization in Counce, Tennessee and served as an executive board member.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Myron Edward Deatherage and a sister, Patricia Ann Deatherage.
He married the former Carla Cromwell on September 9, 1972. They were married 37 years. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Wade Deatherage and his wife, Brandy, Ryan Deatherage and his wife, Rita, all of Savannah, Tennessee, and Nathan Sevier of Enid, Oklahoma; a daughter, Michele Sevier and her fiancee, Roger Blevins, of Savannah, Tennessee. He leaves two special daughters, Brandy DeLoach and her husband, Charlie, of Humboldt, Tennessee and Sherry Harris of Medina, Tennessee. Other survivors include his sister, Joan Love and her husband, Bobby Joe, of Counce, Tennessee; nine grandchildren, Noel Deatherage, Patrick Gaastra, Haylee Welch, Hayden Blevins, Austin Sevier, Coltyn DeLoach, Daltyn DeLoach, Ashley Harris, and Nick Harris; a host of family and friends, and his Chihuahua and faithful companion, Homer.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, at the Hardin County Library.
