Mr. Murley passed away early Friday morning at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
He was born Thursday, July 7, 1932, to the late Wilburn Elihu Stewart, Sr. and Ruby Doyle Stewart, in Hardeman County, TN. He married Helen Louise Stewart, and remained married for thirty-five years until she passed in August of 1993. Murley worked for Dixie Gas, Webster's Sporting Goods for thirteen years, and he also worked at Bolivar Ford. He was a member of the Bolivar First Baptist Church. He enjoyed listening to country music and helping others at Ridgecrest Apartments. Murley served in the United States Army, and spent all of his life living in Hardeman County, TN.
He is survived by two daughters, Carol Brown (Doug) of Middleton, and Sherry Stewart of Bolivar; four sisters, Linda Cranford of Bolivar, Ruth Hammons of Bolivar, Betty Stewart of Bolivar, and Janie Shearin (Fred) of Piperton; five grandchildren, Trina Smith, Crystal (Michael) Brown, Brian Hampton (Libby), Chris Hampton(Melissa), and Melinda Johnson; fourteen great-grandchildren, Jay, Kyle, Abby and Riley Smith, Madison and Avery Hill, Braeleigh, Ian and Eric Hampton, Kirstann Howell, Paige and Samantha Hampton, Hannah Clifton, and Emily Mayfield; one great-great-grandchild, Zaiden Howell; and a daughter-in-law, Libby Johnson of Jackson.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a son Dewayne Johnson; a grandson, Shane Mayfield; sister, Dorothy Carter; and three brothers, Bob Stewart, Thaxter Stewart, and June Stewart (W.E. Jr.).
