Myrtle Dowdy departed this life on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at the age of 87 years, 11 months, 20 days.She was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on April 27, 1925, the daughter of the late Oscar and Ollie Bryant Simmons. Mrs. Dowdy was a lifelong Hardin Countian and had worked at Angelica Manufacturing as an inspector. She was a member of the Olive Hill Baptist Church. She loved gardening, yard work, and going to church. She also enjoyed cooking and making her famous chicken and dressing.Mrs. Dowdy is survived by her daughters, Mildred Edgin of Charlotte, Tennessee and Pattie Vickery of Savannah, Tennessee; sister, Evelyn Bowling of Olive Hill, Tennessee; brothers, Jack Simmons and Billy Simmons both of Olive Hill, Tennessee; 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; special nieces, Jimmie Milgrim of Smithville, Arkansas and Jacklyn Bradley of Ravenden, Arkansas.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie K. Dowdy; brothers, Hughie, W.K., James, and Joe Simmons; grandchildren, Kathy and Patricia Vickery.
