Services for Myrtle Martin of Waynesboro will be held Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee with Donnie Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in McGlamery Cemetery in Collinwood, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
She was born August 29, 1924 in Wayne County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Joseph Turner and Jessie Mae Byrd Ayers. She departed this life Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 84 Years, 11 Months, 7 Days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Mae (Martin) Chism; two sons, Jessie Martin Jr. and Bobby Glenn Martin. Mrs. Martin was retired from Genesco and was a member of the Church of God for over 50 years, serving as secretary of Ladies Auxilliary. She enjoyed quilting.
She is survived by a daughter, Joan (Martin) Raynes and husband Brent of Waynesboro, TN; three grandchildren, Chandra Harrison and husband Scott, Michael Pierce and wife Susan, and Danny Pierce; four great grandchildren, Alexandria Harrison, Tyler Harrison, Autumn Harrison, and Conner Harrison;
three sisters, Pauline Smotherman of Lawrenceburg, TN, Velma White of Waynesboro, TN, and Bonzelle Riley of Waynesboro, TN.
