Mrs. Crawford passed away Friday afternoon, July 25, 2014, at Maplewood Healthcare in Jackson, TN.
Mrs. Crawford was born in Hereford, Texas, the daughter of the late Richmond Earnest and Beulah Powell Colwell. She attended Freed-Hardeman College for 2 years and received her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Abilene Christian College. On August 15, 1952, she was united in marriage to Mr. William H. "Bill" Crawford, who survives. Mrs. Crawford taught for two years at Memphis Christian School (now Harding Academy), was a substitute teacher for Memphis City Schools and taught kindergarten at Getwell Church of Christ, where she was a long-time member. She and her husband lived in Memphis for 34 years before moving to Bolivar in 1986. While in Bolivar, she was a member of the Bolivar Church of Christ. In 2013, she and her husband moved to Jackson where she was a member of the North Jackson Church of Christ.
Her family will remember her as a faithful Christian, loving wife, mother and grandmother. In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and games.
In addition to her husband, she leaves two sons, Rick Crawford and his wife, Susan, of Bartlett and Phil Crawford and is wife, Rhia, of Marion, NC; 3 sisters, Mignon Shelly and her husband, Harry, of Middleton, Barbara Naylor and her husband, Bill, of Henderson and Amanda Pillstrom of Rogers, Arkansas; and four grandchildren, Matthew Crawford and his wife, Allye; Shay, Justin and Megan Crawford.
