NANCY PATTERSON

Henderson, TN: Nancy Faye Smith Patterson, age 79, passed away December 18, 2025, at her home.

She was born on July 31, 1946, in Henderson, and grew up in the Masseyville Community, the daughter of the late George Guy and Lillian Josephine Bryant Smith. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1964 and married Donnie Patterson in 1966. They made their home in the Hickory Corner Community most of their married life with the exception of 8 years in Tallahassee , Fla.

She worked at Kilgore in Toone as a production supervisor from 1975 until 1990. She then worked at Piggly Wiggly in Henderson for ten years, retiring in 2010. After her retirement she helped Donnie manage the family farm.

She had an outstanding basketball career in high school and played in an industrial league. She enjoyed traveling and watching her Grands & Great Grands play all sports. She was a loyal supporter of Chester County and USJ Athletics.

She was a member of the Mitchell’s Chapel Baptist Church. She loved her church and community and was very active in the Hickory Corner Community Center and the Masseyville Fire Department.

Mrs. Patterson is survived by her husband, Donnie Patterson of Henderson; two daughters, Kelly Murray (Roger) of Jackson and Kristin Blackstock (Steve) of Henderson; eight grandchildren, Kyle Patterson, Bethany Seagraves, Drew Blackstock, Brandi Hill, Roger Murray, IV, Cole Murray, Jackson Murray, Brooks Murray and nine great grandchildren; four brothers, Don Smith of Henderson, Mickey Smith of Jackson, Jimmy Smith of Henderson and Barry Smith of Henderson and three sisters, Diane Bullman of Jackson, Patsy Hatch of Henderson and Kathy McMahan of Middleton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Bobby Smith and three sisters, Betty Smith, Donna Kay Hatch and Judy Hodges.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Bro. Jared Walters officiating. Burial will follow at Cave Springs Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at East Main 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday and 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Sunday.
