On Sept. 5, 1921, Nancy Jane Wilson White was born, the fifth child of Cornelius and Sarah Simer Wilson. She lived her entire life in Hardeman County and married at a young age to W.C. (Jack) White with whom she had 7 children. Chuck (Mary) of Middleton, TN, Bob White of Sylacauga, Alabama, Bill (Tillie) White of Oglala, South Dakota, Tony (Marie) White of Myrtle, Mississippi, Sheila (Bobby) Arnold of Jackson, TN, Jim (Beth) White of Middleton, TN and Neil White of Bolivar, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her sons Bob and Bill, and by 3 infants who died at birth. In addition to her surviving children, she leaves numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a few great great grandchildren.
Nancy worked at the garment factory in Bolivar for a few years, but her career was taking care of her family and her home. She was the biscuit baker, banana pudding specialist, the vegetable gardener, the quilt maker, the referee, the nurse and doctor. She was the encourager, the disciplinarian, the spiritual guide, the therapist and the confidant. Her greatest joy came from knowing her children were happy, healthy, independent and confident.
Nancy passed away peacefully on May 30, 2011. Her family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the staff of Maplewood Healthcare in Jackson for the outstanding compassionate care that she received over the last 3 years.
