Nancy Whitley

Nancy Whitley was born February 18, 1937 in Henderson, TN the daughter of the late Carl Lofton and Mary Magdalene Davidson Drinkard.

She was united in marriage to William Ross "Bill" Whitley on February 4, 1956. Mr. Whitley preceded her in death on September 10, 1966.

Mrs. Whitley worked at Brown Shoe Company and Aqua Glass. She was a member and Elder at the Bethel Springs Presbyterian Church in Bethel Springs, Tennessee. She was a dedicated Mother, spending most of her life caring and committed to her children. Her "Golden Years" were spent taking care of and loving on her grandchildren. She was affectionately called "Nanny" or "Nan" by her grandchildren and those two words brightened her smile even more. She was a wonderful Nanny supplying endless love, strength and patience.

Mrs. Whitley departed this life on April 29, 2020 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 83 Years, 2 Months, 11 Days. She is survived by a daughter, Melody Surratt and the late Tommy Surratt; two sons, Lee Whitley and wife Angie, Ross Whitley and wife Joyce; four grandchildren, Grant Whitley, Dalton Whitley, Lucas Hamm, Karrah Hamm; and a host of extended family and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Whitley was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lee Carpenter; two brothers, C.L. and Robert Drinkard.

THERE WILL BE A DRIVE THROUGH VIEWING FOR MRS. WHITLEY AT SHACKELFORD FUNERAL DIRECTORS IN SELMER ON FRIDAY, MAY 1ST BEGINNING AT 4:00 PM AND CONTINUING UNTIL 7:00 PM. THE PUBLIC MAY PARTICIPATE, BUT PARTICIPANTS MUST ABIDE BY THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: FOR YOUR SAFETY AND THAT OF THE FAMILY, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PARK YOUR VEHICLE IN THE FUNERAL HOME PARKING LOT OR EXIT YOUR VEHICLE. YOU WILL DRIVE THROUGH AND PAY YOUR RESPECTS TO MRS. WHITLEY AND HER FAMILY FROM YOUR VEHICLE. AN ATTENDANT WILL LIST YOUR NAME IN THE REGISTER BOOK AND YOU WILL BE OFFERED A MEMORIAL FOLDER AS A KEEPSAKE.
