Mrs. Cates passed away Wednesday at Bolivar General Hospital.
The widow of Russell B. Cates, who died in 1973, she was a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston Texas and afterwards served as a private duty nurse. She was born to Lawrence W. and Samantha Sappington Wooten and lived in Houston and Memphis prior to moving here 9 years ago. Mrs. Cates enjoyed going to yard sales.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Ford of Pawnee, Texas and Martha Hazelgrove of Bolivar; a sister, Willie Ruth Bell of Memphis; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Julia Cooper and a son, Russell Cates.
