Nannie Sue Hurt was born on April 16, 1930 in Wayne County, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Garland and Lucy Clay Bryant.
On November 12, 1950, she was united in marriage to JW Hurt, who preceded her husband in death on January 13, 2012.
Nannie attended New Harmony Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee. She loved gardening and was a wonderful cook. She became known in her family for her delicious Sunday meals, fried pies, and famous dill pickles.
Nannie Sue Hurt departed this life on May 11, 2026 in Savannah, Tennessee, at the age of 96 years and 25 days.
She is survived by her children, Jerry Hurt (Nancy), Shirley Barron, Charles Hurt (Ann), Billy Hurt (Connie), Linda White (Randy), and David Hurt; grandchildren, Jacob Hurt (Meredith), Brent Barron (Loren), Holly Barron, Molly Mills (Mason), Micah Hurt, Christina Thorne (Tyler), Elizabeth Thurman (Shelton), William Hurt (Angel), Caitie Hurt (James Stewart), Jennifer Justice (Brandon), Sarah Duncan (Will), and Abby White; and great grandchildren, Ada Duncan, Brady Chandler, Maggie Davis, Hayes Hurt, Cayson Thorne, Camdon Thorne, Kinzie Hurt, Dakota Hurt, Maycee Hurt, and Barrett Hurt.
In addition to her parents and spouse, Nannie was preceded in death by her brothers, TJ Bryant and James Bryant and son in law, Dan Barron.
