Nathan Warren “Buddy” Moore, Jr.
Mr. Nathan W. “Buddy” Moore, of Henderson, Tennessee passed away at Jackson General Hospital on Sunday September 7, 2025 following a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at
Shackleford Funeral Directors-Casey Chapel in Henderson, Tennessee with Glenn Harris officiating.
Burial will follow with military honors in the Chester County Memory Gardens in Henderson. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to just before funeral time.
Born and raised in Henderson, Chester County, Tennessee – Buddy was the oldest of three brothers. He was educated in Chester County schools, graduating from Chester County High School in 1966.
After graduating, Buddy was employed by South Central Bell. Soon after being employed, he was called to serve his country in the Army and was deployed to Vietnam. After being awarded the Purple Heart (Combat Wounded), he was sent back state side to serve out his remaining time at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He was honorably discharged following the completion of his duty. He then returned to finish out his career with the phone company.
Mr. Moore retired after 35 years with the phone company as a technician.
The devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather enjoyed hunting, traveling out west, and classic cars.
He is survived by his sons Joseph Moore of Jackson and Fredrick Daniel Hurt (Christi) of Pegram, TN; grandchildren Aiden Joseph Moore, Fredrick Elias “Eli” Hurt, Ethan Garrett Hurt, Emelia Katherine Hurt and Ellison Nathan Hurt; four great-grandchildren, Jettson, Wylie, Shiloh, Briar and his brothers Billy Joe “Bill” Moore (Jan) and Rodger Alan “Bob” Moore (Janeane).
Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents Nathan W. Moore, Sr. and Annie Jo Rodgers Moore of Henderson and his wife Katherine Lawrence Moore of Jackson.
Pallbearers include Aiden Moore, Eli Hurt, Ethan Hurt, Ellis Hurt, Jacob Moore and Timothy Fletcher.
Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
