Nellie Sue Wells

was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on May 21, 1941, the daughter of the late Willie and Gazelle Davis Doyle.

On February 13, 1970, she was united in marriage to Danny Lynn Wells, who survives.

Nellie attended Savannah Central High School, where she played basketball and later attended Lambuth College. After 30 years as a computer operator she retired from Packaging Corporation of America in Counce, Tennessee. Nellie was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee. In her spare time she enjoyed playing softball in the recreation league, golfing, gardening, yard work, riding motorcycles, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Nellie Sue Wells departed this life on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 83 years, 3 months, and 28 days.

In addition to her husband Danny of 54 years, she is survived by her children, Charles Wood (Rachel), Dan Wood (Eileen), and Randy Wood (Regina); grandchildren, Daniel Wood (Inna), Andrew Wood (Liz), Matthew Wood (Savanna), Michael Wood (Emily), Ruffin Wood, Sophie Wood, and Marqaux Wood; and great grandchildren, Alma Wood and Henry Wood.

Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Gazelle Doyle, and two brothers, Leroy and William Doyle.
