Nettie Pearl DeShazierwas born in Lauderdale County, Alabama on October 17, 1919 the daughter of the late Harvey Wesley and Elizabeth Jane Shepherd Kelley.Ms. DeShazier had worked at the Candy Factory, the Savannah Button Factory, as a C.N.A., as a maid, and she had also preached. She wrote poems, songs, books of inspiration, crocheted, and was a seamstress. She attended the People's Tabernacle Church of God.Ms. DeShazier departed this life on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at the age of 90 years, 4 months.Ms. DeShazier is survived by a daughter, Katharion Arnold of Savannah, Tennessee; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 22 great-great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, Ms. DeShazier was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Cora Lee Saurwin and Nettie White; a son, Wesley DeShazier; 2 sisters, Angel Kelley and Mary Eunice Bishof; 9 brothers, Hailey, William, George Henry, Edgar, Leonard, Lidge, Cecle, Gelspie, and Dalton Kelley; a grandson, Billy DeShazier, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
