Nettie Faulkner

Nettie Stricklin Faulkner Nettie Faulkner of South Bend, IN, formerly of Wayne County, TN, age 96, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016 in Briarcliff Nursing and Rehab in South Bend, IN.

Nettie was born on November 29, 1919 in Wayne County, TN to Ira M. and Roxie L. (Melson) Stricklin. She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Grace Horton, Linnie Pigg, Esther Stricklin and Waymon Morris, and two sons, Grady K. Faulkner and Paul D. Faulkner.

Surviving are her grandchildren, Kathy (Matthias) Strunk, Grady K. (Tina) Faulkner, Jr., P. David (Tracy) Faulkner, Thomas J. (Angela) Faulkner, Anne Marie (Paul) Robinson and Michael P. (Monique) Faulkner; 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Frankie Abrams, Annie Bonar and Ira “Bitsy” Weatherford and one brother, Matthew “Sonny” (Ethel) Stricklin and two daughters-in-law, Frances “Lou” Faulkner and Mary Ann Faulkner.

Nettie worked for Wilson Brothers Shirts in the 1950’s and then was a homemaker staying home to raise her family.

Visitation for Nettie will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Home, 993 Highway 13 South, Collinwood, TN, with Matthais Strunk officiating. Burial will take place in Lutts Cemetery, Lutts, TN, Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Southern Care Hospice, 1626 East Day Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.

The family would like to thank the staff at Briarcliff Nursing Home and Southern Care Hospice for taking such good care of Nettie. They would also like to thank the staff at St. Paul’s Assisted Living for their years of service and care.
