Nona F. Goodrum, a beloved member of the Selmer community, passed away on December 15, 2023, at the age of 93. She was born on August 1, 1930, in Selmer, Tennessee, to Arch and Grace Coleman Dunaway.
On February 12, 1949, she married J.V. "Pete" Goodrum. Their union brought them immeasurable happiness until Pete's passing on May 4, 1997.
In her younger years, Nona found joy in tending to her yard and engaging in sewing and various craft projects. She was devoted to her faith and attended New Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
For over 35 years, Mrs. Goodrum dedicated herself to serving the community at Wal-Mart in Selmer, TN. Her commitment and hard work made her an integral part of the store's success.
A mother at heart, Nona cherished the role of being both a mother and a grandmother. She delighted in preparing Sunday dinners that brought her extended family together each week.
Survived by her children: Linda Faye Dennie and her husband James of Bethel Springs, TN; James Ray Goodrum and his wife Karen of Martin, TN; and Joan Gray of Guys, TN - her legacy lives on through them.
She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Jill Williams and her husband Kyle; Beth Dennie; Corey Goodrum; Gina Dettor and her husband Steve; Shane Gray and his wife Jessica; Jason Gray and his wife Miquela. Additionally, she was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren who will forever cherish their memories with their loving great-grandmother.
In addition to her immediate family members, Nona is survived by her sister-in-law Barbara Jo Dunaway, her close friend Marcella Huggins, and a multitude of extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Goodrum was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnnie B. Dunaway and Rubel Dunaway.
Her departure leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew and loved her dearly. Nona's warm smile, compassionate heart, and unwavering love will forever be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have had her touch their lives.
