Norma Beatrice Carter

Norma Beatrice Carter, 83, of Medon, died Thursday morning, February 15, 2007 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.



The wife of Raymond A. Carter, who survives, she worked at Kilgore for several years and retired from Dover Elevators in 1986 after 12 years of service in assembly. Mrs. Carter was born November 19, 1923 in Duck Hill, Miss., daughter of the late Hugh Etheridge Russell and Hattie Watson Russell and lived here all of her life. She was a member of New Union Baptist Church where she served as church clerk, secretary and Sunday school teacher for many years.



In addition to her husband, whom she married May 31, 1941, survivors include two daughters, Barbara Carter Rowland of Spartanburg, SC and Carol Carter Grantham of Toone; one son, Douglas Carter of Knoxville; nine grandchildren, Jeffery and Joey Rowland, Julie Gray, Scott, Stacey and Chris Grantham and Kevin, Brad and Kimberly Carter; seven great grandchildren, Elise and Victoria Rowland, Olivia and Matthew Gray, Christian Rowland and Eli and Ethan Grantham. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother, Vera Brown and Ermal Russell.
