Olivia Denton, 88, of Bolivar, passed from this life Friday morning, September 11, 2009 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The widow of Gene Denton, who died on August 15, 1996, after 54 years of marriage, she was a homemaker and assisted her husband as co-owner of Denton Cleaners for over forty years. She was born April 6, 1921, in McNairy County, daughter of the late John and Alma Rinks Garrett and lived most all of her life here. She enjoyed working in her yard and was an avid gardener. She was an active member of Bolivar First Baptist Church, participating in the Golden Sounds Choir.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Barbara Vance and Norman, Sandy Malone and Mike, all of Bolivar; a son and his wife, Jimmy Denton and Susanne of Bolivar; two sisters, Martha Mulkey of Cabot, Ark. and Reba Bethuen of Memphis; and five grandchildren, Dena Denton, Sheila Siler, Darian Leath, James Elliott Denton, II and Michael Malone; seven great grandchildren; six step grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, three sisters and one step grandchild.
