Opal Kirby

Opal Shannon Kirby was born October 29, 1921 in McNairy County, Tennessee the daughter of the late Hubert B. and Allie McCalpin Shannon.She was united in marriage to Prince Kirby. Mr. Kirby preceded her in death.Mrs. Kirby was a telephone operator for 29 years at BellSouth. She was a member of the Tate Street Baptist Church in Corinth, Mississippi and a member of the Telephone Pioneers.Mrs. Kirby departed this life on August 14, 2010 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 88 Years, 9 Months, 16 Days. She is survived by a sister, Bettye Leonard of Selmer, TN; four nephews, two nieces, and ten great nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Kirby was preceded in death by a sister, Versie Potts; two brothers, Jimmy Shannon, Warren Shannon.
