Opal Howell Swinford

August 28, 1928 — September 7, 2011

Mrs. Swinford died Wednesday night at Bolivar General Hospital.



A native of Silerton, she lived most all of her life in Hardeman County. She was the daughter of the late Tom and Ivy Emerson Young and a member of the Silerton Baptist Church. Mrs. Swinford was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Howell, in 1961.



She leaves five daughters, Anita Lambert, Berlinda Howell, Rose Thompson and Linda Nelson, all of Bolivar, and Elizabeth Waldrop of Walnut, MS; one son, James Howell of Bolivar; and one sister, Georgia Vales of Lexington; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchldren.



In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Young.
