OPHELIA WOOD

Henderson, TN: Ophelia Gurien Wood age 66 passed away December 13, 2016 at her home.

She was born June 7, 1950 in Ridgely, TN the daughter of the late James Preston and Rosie Butler Gurien. She attended schools in Lake County. She married Billy Wayne Wood and they made their home at Medon. She worked in packaging at the Bemis Mill, the Burger Barn and then in the cafeteria in the Madison County School System. She was a member of the Clover Creek Baptist Church.

Mrs. Wood is survived by three sons, Dewayne Wood of Henderson, Michael Wood and Donnie Wood both of Medon; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Tommy Gurien of Ridgely, TN, Larry Gurien of Georgia and Jamie Gurien of Tiptonville; five sisters, Trish Lee of Ridgely, Peggy Marcle of Newburn, Faye Williams of Ridgely, Jean Tedford of Ridgely, and LaVaughn Bates of Ridgely.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Jimmy Gurien and a sister, Stella Markham.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday December 16, 2016 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Mark Shiers officiating. Burial will follow in Old Friendship Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel beginning at 12 Noon Friday until 1:00 PM service time Friday.
