Ormand Allen Byrd of Waynesboro, TN departed this life on Thursday, October 13, 2011at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 84 Years, 1 Month, 10 Days. He was born September 20, 1927 in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, the son of the late Wiley Alfred and Ollie Spann Byrd. In addition to his parents, Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by brother, Harvel Byrd; sisters, Naomi Gallaher and Ira Purcell.
He was united in marriage to Geneva Risner on September 28, 1947.
Mr. Byrd was self employed with rental property and was a restaurant owner. He was a member of the Highland Methodist Church in Wayne County, TN where he was the song director for 35 years and he served his country in the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva Byrd of Waynesboro, TN ; son, David Allen Byrd and wife, Sherry of Waynesboro, TN; daughters, Linda Gobble and husband, Paul of Lawrenceburg, TN, Twyla Franks and husband, Terry and Brenda Byrd all of Waynesboro, TN; grandchildren, Tracy Gobble, Shawn Gobble, Jeremy Gobble, Ryan Franks, Jeff Franks, Tim Franks, Chris Porter, Christy Gaddes, Shannon Beckham, Jon David Byrd, Mary Milam and Nick Milam; great-grandchildren, Brooke Gobble, Brandon Gobble, Cassie Gobble, Kody Gobble, Carson Gobble, T. J. Gobble, Casey Franks, Emma Koonce, Will Franks, Audrey Franks, Allyson Franks, Donnie Porter, Hannah Porter, Christian Porter, Devon Gaddes, Jacob Gaddes and Spencer Gaddes; brothers, Mack Byrd of Smyrna, TN and Dale Byrd of Lavergne, TN; sisters, Carmie Akins and Remona Prince both of Waynesboro, TN; several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with grandson, Jeremy Gobble and Bro. Ray Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Methodist Church Cemetery (Wayne County), Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Pallbearers will be Tracy Gobble, Ryan Franks, Jeff Franks, Joh David Byrd, Chris Porter, and Chad Gaddes. Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn Gobble, Jeremy Gobble, Tim Franks, Kody Gobble, and Brandon Gobble.
