Patricia Ann Alexander Hanna

December 4, 1930 — January 28, 2018

Patricia Ann (Patty Ann) Alexander Hanna was born December 4, 1930 in Jackson, TN the daughter of the late Joe Hollis and Nina Fly Alexander.

Pat's family moved to Eaton, TN when she was 3 years old. Her idyllic childhood was spent in this quaint, rural community, where she was baptized in the local creek and became a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. Pat graduated from Spring Hill School in 1949, playing basketball and joining the fledgling squad of cheerleaders. Summers were spent with her aunts and uncles in Jackson, where she learned to sew; every fall there would be new school dresses ready for the coming year.

After high school, Pat enrolled in West Tennessee Business College. In 1951, she moved to Washington, D. C. to accept a position in the Identification Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. While working for the F.B.I. Pat met a young sailor named Robert P. (Bob) Hanna. Bob and Pat were married at the Petworth Baptist Church in Washington on May 3, 1953. F.B.I. Director J. Edgar Hoover wrote a personal congratulatory letter to the Hannas on this special occasion. Pat worked for the F.B.I. from 1951 until 1953, and again from 1955 to 1956.

After marriage Bob and Pat lived in Oxford, PA and Bainbridge, MD where Bob was stationed at the United States Naval Training Center. Terry Susan, their first daughter, was born in the Naval Hospital during this time. From 1956 to 1958, Pat, Bob and Terry Susan lived in Jackson, TN where Pat worked for the Jackson Clinic in Medical Records while Bob attended Lambuth College. Their second child, Nina Ellen, was born during this time. In 1959, the family moved to Chamblee, GA where Bob completed his education in Hospital Administration at Georgia State College. From 1960 to 1961, they lived in Dalton, GA where Bob served his Hospital Administrative Residency, then moved to Selmer where they have lived ever since.

From 1971 to 1991 Pat worked as a Service Representative for Bellsouth, covering Selmer, Bolivar, and Jackson. While an employee of Bellsouth Pat joined the Bellsouth Clown Troupe and also served as Vice-President of the group that organized Camp Bluebird, providing adult cancer patients with education, support, and encouragement after a diagnosis of cancer. Pat was a life member of the BellSouth/AT&T Pioneers of America. She was skilled in the game of Bridge, playing every Monday and Tuesday, and loved to travel and cruise with family and friends. Pat dearly loved her Lord, family, and friends and was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson. She lived an interesting, exciting, wonderful and full life.

Pat departed this life on January 28, 2018 in Adamsville, Tennessee at the age of 87 Years, 1 Month, 24 Days. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert P. (Bob) Hanna of Selmer, TN; two daughters, Terry Susan Yancey and husband Don of Mt. Dora, FL and Nina Ellen Cooksey and husband Bill of Bartlett, TN; three grandchildren: Travis Robert Harville and wife Elizabeth, Alexander Eugene Chumney, and William Lee Cooksey V; three great-grandchildren: Easton Samuel Harville, Rye Elizabeth Harville, and Desmond Burnside; two sisters-in-law, Beverly S.
