Patricia "Pat" Poston

Patricia Ann Paschall Poston, born January 11, 1939, to Bailey Peyton Paschall and Thelma Lucille Jackson Paschall in Puryear, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on November 30, 2025, at age 86.

Patricia grew up in Puryear and attended Puryear High School, where she excelled academically and was a standout basketball player. While in high school, she met her future husband, Bobby Breen Poston of McKenzie, Tennessee, at a basketball game. They were married on December 21, 1957, in Puryear and would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on the 21st of this month.

Following their wedding, the couple lived briefly in Memphis before moving to Tucson, Arizona, where two of Patricia’s brothers resided. Their sons, Jeff and Greg, were born in Tucson, and in 1964, the young family returned to Memphis. In her early married years, Patricia held several jobs, including positions with Sears, Roebuck & Co., and as a School Crossing Guard. Her primary career began in 1974 with the Internal Revenue Service, where she served for 31 years. She started as a Tax Examiner and earned multiple promotions, ultimately retiring as a Disaster Recovery and Information Security Specialist. In that role, she traveled to IRS service centers across the country to conduct preparedness training. Shortly after retirement, Bobby and Patricia moved to Spring Hill, Tennessee, where they enjoyed the freedom and fun of retired life, including a memorable trip to Italy. In 2017, they relocated to Henderson, Tennessee.

Patricia loved to shop—especially for clothes—but truly enjoyed finding anything that caught her eye. She loved her friends, flowers, birds, dishes, music, and decorating her home for every holiday, especially Christmas. She was a devoted and loving wife to Bobby and a living example of the Proverbs 31 woman: “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good and not harm, all the days of her life.” Bobby loved her deeply every day of their life together.

Patricia was also a selfless and loving mother to Jeff and Greg. She spent her life loving, teaching, guiding, encouraging, defending, promoting, and sacrificing for her children. She poured herself into her family, and no matter the hardship or circumstance, she remained positive—trusting in the Lord with unwavering faith.

Her faith in God was her foundation and her strength. When facing difficulties, Patricia often said, “This too shall pass” and “The Lord will find a way; He always does.”

Patricia is survived by her husband, Bobby Breen Poston; her sons, Jeffrey Todd Poston (Denise) and Gregory Scott Poston (Kim); her five grandchildren, Ryan Jordan Poston, Jeffrey Stephen Poston, Samantha Michelle Poston Grundl, Graham Alan Poston (Sarah), and Annsley Elizabeth Poston Kesler (Sam); and her great-grandchildren, Noah David Poston, Moses Conell Poston, Kinlyn Michelle Poston, and Pace Alan Poston.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bailey Peyton Paschall and Thelma Lucille Paschall; her four brothers, Basil Jackson Paschall, Hassell Bailey Paschall, James Houston Paschall, and Max Everett Paschall; and her sister, Melba Lou Paschall.

Visitation and Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel, 304 Crook Ave, Henderson, TN 38340.
