Patsy Ann Evans Cooksey

Patsy Ann Evans-Cooksey, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, was born on May 13, 1941 at home in Selmer, Tennessee. She was the youngest daughter to the late Frank Evans and Frankie Gladish Evans.

She was a very active young girl. Playing basketball at Michie High school and was nominated Most Valuable Player while in school. She loved her alma mater “Michie Blue Devils” and was very proud of her academic and sports accomplishments. She was very active with her classmates, meeting once a month for lunch when her health would allow.

On May 7, 1960, she was united in marriage to the late Jimmy Mckinely Cooksey, they were married for 62 years before his passing in May of 2022.

Throughout her life, Patsy worked as a seamstress in local garment factories before going back to college and receiving her LPN degree in 1977. She then worked for over 20 years at Hardin Medical Center, in the surgery department as a surgical nurse. Nursing was her calling, and she loved it with a passion. After retirement, Patsy enjoyed travel, cooking, decorating her home, collecting Blue Willow dishes, gardening, spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and working in her church. Patsy was a devoted member of West Shiloh Baptist church where she served on many committees and sang in the choir.

Patsy departed this life on September 15, 2025 at the age of 84 Years, 4 Months, 2 Days surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her children include one son, Jimmy McKinley Cooksey Jr. and wife Stephanie and their children, Morgan and her husband Nicholas Koutrelakos their children Mae and Kate of McMinnville, Tennessee; Kyle his wife Marin from Bulverde, Texas and Nicole Hathaway from Montgomery, Texas; Two daughters, Andrea Rena Cooksey and fiancée Shane Meeks of Shiloh, Tennessee and their child, Calin Meeks of Savannah, Tennessee; her youngest daughter, Carla Cooksey Qualls from Shiloh, Tennessee and her children Terran Qualls and his children, Holly and Felix all of Jackson, Tennessee; Chase and wife Maegan and their children, Jayden, Callen and Chloe Qualls all of Saltillo, Tennessee. One brother Robert Evans and Wife Janice of West Palm Beach, Florida. Extended family included one nephew, Jeremy Cooksey, five nieces, Kim Williams, Kelly English, LeAnn Evans, Vicki Evens-Pare, and Stephanie Evens-Bell; as well as a host of church family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cooksey was preceded in death by her spouse Jimmy McKinley Cooksey, one sister, Billie Bryan; two nephews Sidney and Randy Burks.
