Paul Davis Wilson, age 85, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2024 at his home in Bethel Springs, TN.
He was born January 29, 1939 in the Mt. Gilead Community of McNairy County to the late Carl Davis and Vernie Maxine Holyfield Wilson. He attended Rose Creek School, graduated in 1956 from Selmer High School and was a 196l graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin. He proudly served in the Army National Guard. Paul loved his country and proudly shared his love with those around him.
After graduating college, he taught at Bethel Springs High School. He was a gifted teacher and loved teaching but did not like the confinement of being indoors. His love for the family farm drew him back to full time farming. He raised corn, soybeans, hogs and Hereford Cattle. He believed in being a good steward of the land and all that God had blessed him with to care for.
On August 26, 1966, he married Doris Ann Ray. She became his help mate on the family farm and worked alongside him until her health declined.
He was a faithful member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. He served as Treasurer for 25 years, Deacon, Sunday School Director, Executive Board member and Teacher. He was a mentor for many and often gave Godly advice to anyone who needed it. He served for 46 years as a Director with the Farm Bureau, a Director with the USDA Farm Service, was a founding member of the McNairy County Forrest Landowners Association and the Rose Creek Fire Station, and worked for over 50 years in McNairy County Elections.
Paul is survived by his wife of 58 years, Doris Ann Wilson; daughters, Jo Doris Price and husband Keith of Selmer, TN and Polly Ann Brasher and husband William of Jackson, TN; grandson, Peter Allen Brasher of Jackson, TN; sisters, Christine Sparks of Bethel Springs, TN and Mary Nell Rinks of Bolivar, TN; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; Brothers-in-law, Cecil Conrad of Eads, TN and Robert Bedwell of Ramer, TN.
