Phil Hickerson, age 79 died at home on May 20, 2026. Phil was born in Humboldt, Tennessee on October 4, 1946, to Jessie Oliver and Bobbie Ruth Hickerson. He lived in Idlewild, Bradford, and Memphis, Tennessee growing up. Phil graduated from Whitehaven High School and then joined the Marine Corps in 1964.

Phil met his future wife, Anita, while she was working in Washington, D.C. and he was stationed at Quantico, Virginia. They were married in January 1967, and made their home in Memphis, Tennessee. They moved with their son, Terry, to Jackson where their daughter Kathryn was born.

Phil began his wrestling career with a co-worker from Owens Corning. He wrestled from 1971 until 1996. He wrestled in several states including Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Canada and worked in Japan and Texas in the 1990’s.

Phil was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, his brother, Terry Lee Hickerson in 2015, his son, Terry G. Hickerson in March 2021 and his brother-in-law, Jim Bowerman in 2025.

Phil is survived by his wife, Anita of Henderson, daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and David Weissenfluh of Jackson, grandchildren, Kimberly Weissenfluh of New York, David Weissenfluh II of Murfreesboro and Anna Weissenfluh of Jackson, sister, Judy Williams of South Carolina, a half-brother, Michael Palmertree (Sherrie) of Mississippi, sister-in-law Laurie Kidder of Hastings, Michigan, nephews, Mike Bader (Karen) and David Bader, nieces Sherry and Angie, long-time friend Shane Connor and many cousins and friends. Phil is also survived by his lab, Hershey. Phil was a member of Sanford Hill Baptist Church. 

A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 PM Saturday May 30, 2026, at Sanford Hill Baptist Church with visitation starting at 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM service time at the church.
