R. F. Forsyth

R. F. Forsyth was born March 13, 1923 in McNairy County, Tennessee the son of the late William Chester and Arizona Richards Forsyth.



He was united in marriage to Perry Dee Smith on October 24, 1942. Mrs. Forsyth preceded him in death on March 26, 2004.



Mr. Forsyth was a retired farmer and master carpenter. He was a veteran of World War II, having served his country in the United States Army. He participated in the China Air Offensive, Central Burma, and India Burma Campaigns and was awarded three bronze stars. He also received the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Forsyth was a member of the Gravel Hill Baptist Church.



Mr. Forsyth departed this life on June 20, 2011 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 88 Years, 3 Months, 7 Days. He is survived by two daughters, Jimmie Forsyth and Tommie Smith, both of Selmer, TN; five sons: Robert F. Forsyth and wife Linda of Selmer, TN, Richard V. Forsyth and wife Joy of Corinth, MS, Gregory D. Forsyth and wife Kathryn of Guys, TN, Ronald P. Forsyth and wife Debbie of Corinth, MS, and William Hailey Forsyth and wife Janice of Jackson, TN; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Thurston Forsyth of Selmer, TN; three sisters, Milo Mathis of Selmer, TN, Blondell Wagoner of Adamsville, TN, and Durrell Pickle and husband Billy of Selmer, TN; and many extended family and friends.



In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Forsyth was preceded in death by four brothers, Gilford Forsyth, Blonsell Forsyth, Parvin Forsyth, and Leonard C. Forsyth; and a sister, Maidell Forsyth.
