Ralph Kevion Amos, Sr. was born September 4, 1922 in Marshall County, Alabama the son of the late Henry Bell and Maude Burgett Amos.
He was united in marriage to Betty Hill on May 9, 1946.
Mr. Amos was the former owner and operator of Amos Cleaners in Selmer, Tennessee for 38 years. After leaving the dry cleaning business, he worked for approximately 20 years with W. T. Hill as an insurance representative. Mr. Amos served his country in the United States Army during World War II. As a member of General George Patton's Second Armored Division, Mr. Amos saw action in the European Theatre as a lineman and artilleryman. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Selmer, Tennessee.
Mr. Amos departed this life on November 8, 2009 at his home in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 87 Years, 2 Months, 4 Days. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty H. Amos of Selmer, TN; a son, Ralph Amos and wife Susan of Adamsville, TN; two grandchildren, Julie Durrance and husband Jason of Lakeland, TN and Amy Coffman and husband Ricky of Stantonville, TN; five great-grandchildren: Abbey Durrance, Lane Durrance, Cason Durrance, Rylan Coffman, and Ryce Coffman; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Amos was preceded in death by a grandchild, Ralph K. (Trae) Amos III; and a brother, Gordon Amos.
