Mr. Ralph Willard Palmerton, age 92, passed away May 1, 2025, at Savannah Nursing and Rehabilitation.
He was born May 7, 1932, in Lockport, NY, son of the late Williard and Leona Blacklock Palmerton. After completing high school, he joined the Marine Corps in 1952 and served a year before being honorably discharged after an injury to his leg.
Mr. Palmerton, then moved to Winter Haven, Florida and began working as a self-employed construction contractor. He moved to Tennessee in 1984.
He married Donna Marie Tripp on August 1, 1986, and they made their home in Wayne County.
Mr. Palmerton was actively involved as a member of the Assembly of God Church and had been involved in the Royal Rangers Program and had also helped to build church buildings.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Palmerton of Waynesboro, two sons Kim Palmerton (Lisa) of Branford, FL and Edward Palmerton of Winter Haven, FL; four daughters Karen Boudrie and Dana Chouinard (Andrew) both of Winter Haven, Sharon Sager (Andy) of Lake Alfred, FL and Deonna Inman (Bobby) of Linden, TN; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepmother, Edna Palmerton and a brother Don Palmerton.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, May 5, 2025, at Shackelford Funeral Directors Waynesboro Chapel with Greg Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Methodist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Waynesboro Chapel from 5:00 - 8:00 PM Sunday and then from 9:00 to 11:00 AM service time on Monday.
