Ramelle Nobles Elder, 87, went home to be with her Saviour, Jesus Christ, in the early morning hours of Sunday June 28th, 2009. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James Elder, her parents, John Oscar and Effie Rhodes Nobles, and her son-in-law, Carl Cox, Jr. She is survived by her loving daughter, Sheila Elder Cox, her granddaughter and her husband Billy and Jennifer Cox Evans, and three great grandchildren, Evan (18), Noah (14) and Emily (11) Rogers of Old Hickory, TN.
Ramelle was born in Chester County, Tennessee to John Oscar and Effie Rhodes Nobles in October 1921. She grew up in Jack's Creek, Tennessee and graduated from Chester County High School. Ramelle also attended Freed Hardeman College. She married James Elder, of Jefferson GA in 1941 and they were blessed with a daughter, Sheila Elder Cox.
Ramelle was a member of North Jackson Baptist Church. She loved to sew, cook and garden with flowers. In later years, she enjoyed attending plectoral socity meetings and festivals with her husband James Elder. Ramelle also enjoyed traveling, she especially loved the West and the Grand Canyon.
