Henderson: Ray Bishop, age 80, died Saturday night, December 26, 2009 at Jackson General Hospital.
Mr. Bishop was born and reared in Chester County, the Sweet Lips Community, the son of the late John Wesley and Nola Ester Massengill Bishop. He attended Chester County schools and went to West Tennessee Business College.
He served six years in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He worked in retail sales all his adult life, having worked as manager of Thom McCann Stores, regional manager for Dollar General Stores, Town House Mobile Homes, and Hively Motor Company in Selmer. He owned and operated Big Orange Café in Henderson and retired from the Chester County Hwy Department in 1991.
He married Ann Hutton in 1980 and they made their home in Selmer for a couple of years before moving to Henderson.
He is survived by his wife Ann Hutton Bishop, two sons Tony Ray Bishop and Shane Bishop all of Henderson, two daughters Barbara Greenway (Greg) of Henderson and Tawnya Moore (Jay) of Jackson and a sister Thelma Melton of Henderson and seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Arlin Bishop and Woodrow Bishop and a sister Mary Reeda Taylor.
