Alfred Ray Moore of Adamsville, TN, formerly of Selmer and Memphis, TN and Florida was born May 31, 1942 in Lexington, TN. He departed this life on August 23, 2018 at the age of 76 years.
He attended Hickory Flatt Methodist Church in Adamsville, TN. Ray graduated high school in Selmer and attended Memphis State University where he he became an architectural draftsman. He used his drafting knowledge to start his own HVAC business in Memphis. In the middle 1980's, he sold his business to his partner and moved to Florida where he worked for HVAC companies, GE and Carrier, selling units to building contractors. He retired in 2009 and moved back to Tennessee.
Ray served his country honorably in the United States Army in Alaska from December 1966 to December 1968.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Bearden Moore; a stepdaughter, Tamela Maly of Florida; grandson, Jay of St. Lucia, Virgin Islands; two brothers, J.C. (DiDi) of Jackson, TN and Terry (Melissa) of Selmer, TN; sister, Nancy Watkins of Selmer, TN; sister-in-law, Connie Moore of Selmer, TN; and a host of extended family, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, John Cornish and Evelyn Coats Moore; a brother, Joe Don Moore passed in April 2018.
Pallbearers will be J.C. and Terry Moore, Jerry and Johnny Robinson, Joey and Lee Moore. Honorary pallbearers are Lyman and Charles Bearden, Matthew Moore, Michael and Tyler Berryman.
