Ray C. "Moose" Smith departed this life on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at the age of 88 years and 19 days. He was born in Hardin County, Tennessee, on January 31, 1931, the son of the late Hal and Minnie Irvin Smith. On March 17, 1951, he was united in marriage to Monette Austin Smith, who survives.
Ray had served his country honorably in the Army and was self-employed as a carpenter. He enjoyed playing dominos, hunting deer and coon, and was well known for his watermelons.
In addition to his wife, Monette of Savannah, Tennessee, Ray is survived by his children, Beverly Andrews and her husband Danny, Lawanda Bain and her husband Carol, and Buzzy Smith and his wife Rhonda, all of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Michael Andrews, Jamie Andrews, and Chase Smith; great grandchildren, Parker Andrews, AnaCraig Andrews, Gage Andrews, and Landon Andrews; and sister, Marie Bramhall of Memphis, Tennessee.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Garrett Bain; sisters, Imogene Hosea and Robbie Jerrolds; and brothers, R.D. Smith and Jim Smith.
