Raymond Allen

Mr. Raymond Allen, age 84 of Lamar, Mississippi, passed away Sunday afternoon, April 2, 2017 at his home.
A lifelong native of Lamar, Mr. Allen was born June 16, 1932 to the late Prince and Maggie Watkins Allen. On Saturday, March 19, 1955, he was united in marriage to Minnie Theo Allen, who survives.
Mr. Allen was a farmer, and also worked briefly for Troxel. His favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, riding horses, driving the tractor, and working in the garden. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild. He was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church in Lamar.
He is also survived by his sons, Roger Allen (Melba) of Bolivar, TN, and Donald Allen (Vickie) of Lamar; daughter, Elizabeth Williams (Kevin) of Lamar; sister, Sussie Byrd of Lamar; thirteen grandchildren, Adam, Tim, April, Tracy, Chris, Amanda, Brandy, Chrystal, Billy Wayne, Chelsea, Brandy, Valerie and Cindy; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, Billy W. Allen, passed away in 2007; three sisters, Cassie Skelton, Margaret Bolden, and Charline Yeager; three brothers, R. E. Allen, John L. Allen and Winfred Allen; and one great-grandchild, Lylia Allen, who died in 2015.
