Raymond T. Davis

November 20, 1917 — January 19, 2010

He was born and reared in McNairy County, near Finger, the son of the late Calvin Troy and Anna Florence Plunk Davis. He attended schools in McNairy County and entered the U.S. Navy in 1942 and was discharged in 1945. He was married to Susan Frazier of Cooter, MO. They made their home in Blytheville, AR where he worked for Pepsi Cola. He was a member of the Pioneer Boys, a country and western singing group. They moved to Henderson in 1960. They owned and operated Hwy 45 Gulf Station and then the Queens Cup. Mr. Davis was very involved with the Scouting Program and was assistant Scout Master of Troop 25 in Henderson. He helped develop the ball fields at the original Little League site and sponsored Little League Teams for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.



He is survived by his wife, Susan Azelee Frazier Davis of Henderson; two sons, Louis Davis and wife Hilde of Casablanca, Morocco and Joe G. Davis and wife Linda of Amarillo, TX; four daughters, Judy Hughes and the late John Hughes, Jan Robertson and husband Donnie and Jeri Harris and the late Richard Harris all of Henderson and Linda Autry and husband Dave of Amarillo, TX; 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and two sisters, Newana Vires and Charlene McNair both of Finger, TN.



He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Kermit “Jim’ Davis and Charles Davis and two grandchildren, Shane Walker and Keitha Jo Davis.
