He was born in Memphis, TN the son of the late Leland Taylor and Gladys Knox Marchbanks. He was a firefighter for the City of Memphis for thirty years retiring as a Captain. He served in the U.S. Army, Specialist Second Class – Jan 28, 1955 – Jan 27, 1958 and the U.S. Air Force Reserve, Airman Third Class – Feb 2, 1953 – Jan 1, 1955. Mr. Marchbanks was Pentecostal in belief and was a member of the International Association of Firefighters Local 1784. He is survived by his children, Deborah Watkins of Hendersonville, TN and Johnny Marchbanks of Memphis, TN and Cindy Bencini of Jackson, TN; a special companion, Shirley Wallis of Jackson; two sisters, Martha Ford and Dorothy “Dot†Harber and three brothers, David, Bob and Jimmy Marchbanks; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer Dennison of Acworth, GA, Benjamin Benfield of Pinson, TN, Ashley Marchbanks and Abby Marchbanks both of Memphis, TN, Brittany Bencini and Sara Bencini both of Jackson, TN and 11 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gladys ‘Marguerite’ Chipman.
