Raymond Laverne Vandiver, 79, of Jackson, passed away Monday, January 11, 2010 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The husband of Annie Lou Vandiver, who survives, he worked as a machine fixer at the Bemis Cotton Mill for twenty-six and a half years before retiring in 1992. He was born February 20, 1930 in Hardeman County to the late James Hershel Vandiver and Ora Sanders Vandiver, and lived in Jackson for forty years. He was a member of The Church of God in Pinson.
In addition to his wife, who he married July 26, 1953, he is survived by a daughter, Kathy Diane Rouse of Humboldt; two sons, Donald Steven Vandiver, Sr. and Ronnie Lee Vandiver, both of Jackson; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Lawrence, Howard, Euris, Lester, Cordis, Wendell, Roby Vandiver; and 2 sisters, Ozella Ervin and Wilma Burns.
