Rebecca S. Bomar, 88, of Whiteville, departed this life Friday, September 11, 2015 in Whiteville.
A native of Haywood County, she was born October 11, 1926, daughter of the late Alvin Carnell Sammons and Beulah Little Sammons and lived in Ohio 19 years and the rest of her life in this area. She married J. W. Bomar on January 12, 1943 and he preceded her in death on September 22, 2006. She was a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and dearly loved her family. She also worked for 12 years at Pinner's in Whiteville. Mrs. Bomar was described by her family as 'never having met a stranger' and 'was the person who took care of everyone'. Among the things she enjoyed doing was playing ROOK and BUNKO. She was a former member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and currently was a member of Whiteville First United Methodist Church. Her family also states that she loved God and her church very much.
Survivors include six children, Sam Bomar of Collins, Ohio, Angie Kimberlin of Willard, Ohio, Joyce Sharpe of Sandusky, Ohio, Becky Jo Scott of Huron, Ohio, Dottie Kane of Garland, Texas and Tim Bomar of Middleton; two sisters Elizabeth Gale of Winter Haven, Florida and Linda Cross of Bolivar; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Sue Nell Gross, Juanita McGarrh and Dorothy Holtzschue; two brothers, Marvin and Sonny Sammons; and a grandson in 2014, Jacob Kane. The family requests memorial donations in Mrs. Bomar's name be made to the Whiteville First United Methodist Church.
