Rex Evans

REX EVANS



was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on August 25, 1922 the son of the late John Young and Lantie Dean Rose Evans.



On December 8, 1945 he was united in marriage to Mary Lou Baxter, who preceded her husband in death on January 10, 1989. On February 16, 1990 he was united in marriage to Carrie Long Jones, who survives.



Mr. Evans was a Tow Boat Engineer from 1966 to 1976. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. Evans served in Italy where he was wounded twice in combat and received two purple hearts. He farmed from 1945 to 1959, drove school bus from 1951 to 1959, worked for Clifton Construction from 1960 to 1966. Mr. Evans was a member of Mt. Carmel Methodist Church and a member of Clifton Lodge #173 F & AM. He enjoyed farming and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.



Mr. Evans departed this life on April 24, 2012 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 30 days.

one daughter, Judy Cannon and husband Jerry of Waynesboro, Tennessee



one son, Mike Evans and wife Pat of Clifton, Tenessee



5 grandchildren, Brian Cannon, Shelly Couch, Rebecca Turner, James Evans and John Evans



4 great grandchildren, Makayla Couch, Drew Couch, Nate Turner and Ava Rose Turner.



2 sisters, Robbie Ricketts and Ruth Haggard, both of Savannah, Tennessee



one brother, Jack Evans of Savannah, Tennessee



In addition to his parents and his first wife, Mr. Evans was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Marlan Evans and Johnnie Evans and 5 brothers, Royal, J. E., James W., Curtis and Howard Evans
