Rheba Joyce Surratt

September 14, 1931 — May 12, 2025

Selmer, TN

Rheba Joyce Surratt Rheba Joyce Surratt, age 93, was called home to be with the Lord on May 12, 2025. A devoted mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of God, she lived a life marked by grace, strength, and unwavering faith.

Born on September 14, 1931, she was the heart of a large and loving family. She was married to the love of her life, George Robert Surratt, with whom she raised seven children. Though she suffered the deep sorrow of losing her husband and four of her children, she carried her grief with quiet dignity and continued to stand strong, sustained by her deep and abiding faith.

A long-standing and faithful member of Good Hope Baptist Church, she served the Lord joyfully and consistently throughout her life. Her love for God was evident in every part of her life—through her kindness, her resilience, and the way she cared for others.

"Mamaw," as she was affectionately known by so many, had a gift for nurturing. She helped raise not only her grandchildren but many other children in the community, always ready with open arms, a warm meal, and gentle wisdom. She found joy in the simple things—cooking big meals for her family, caring for others, and being present for the people she loved.

She lived humbly and gave generously. Her home was a place of comfort and love, where everyone felt welcome. Her legacy is one of faith, perseverance, and unconditional love.

She is preceded in death by her parents Charlie Ovie and Media Faye (Taylor) Inman; her siblings Bill Inman, Bob Inman and Shirley Grantham, her husband George Robert Surratt, four of her children: Ricky Wayne Surratt, Jerry Surratt, Tommy Surratt and Patrick Surratt and one grandchild, Rickey Dale Surratt. She leaves behind her loving children, James Surratt (Brenda), Sandra Henson (late Jerry), Ronnie Surratt, Anita Killingsworth (Steve), ten grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends who will miss her deeply but rejoice in knowing she was ready to go home.

Her life was a living testimony of service, strength, and faith. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on in every life she touched.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23
