RHONDA NORWOOD JONES
Henderson, TN: Rhonda Norwood Jones, age 56, passed away Friday morning, November 28, 2014 at her home in Henderson.
Mrs. Jones was born November 4, 1958 in Tupelo, MS, the daughter of Christine Edwards Norwood and the late Phil Steve Norwood. She graduated from Tupelo High School in 1976 and attended Freed-Hardeman College and Mississippi State University. She married Samuel Jones of Tupelo in 1977. They lived in Starkville, MS and Kosciusko, MS, before moving to Henderson in 1991, where they both began work at Freed-Hardeman University. She began work in the Department of Education as a secretary and worked there twenty three years. She was currently the Licensor Officer for the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences. She was responsible for many of her “babies” receiving their license to teach in various states. She was a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, Dr. Samuel Thomas Jones of Henderson; mother Christine Edwards Norwood of Tupelo; three sons: Eric Thomas Jones and wife Megan of Huntsville, Jarrett Stephen Jones of Columbia, TN, William Christopher Jones of Henderson, two foster children: Christopher Arlando Mitchell of Houston, TX; and Allison Webber Fuller of Tupelo; and two grandchildren: Riley Marie Jones and Peyton Thomas Jones. She is also survived by a sister, Brenda Norwood DePriest of Tupelo, and three brothers: Larry Douglas Norwood, Alex Phil Norwood, and Jeffery Norwood all of Tupelo; her father-in-law Wilbert Jones, sister-in-law Wanda Logan and brother-in-law John Jones.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Henderson Church of Christ with Wayne Scott, Roy Sharp, Billy Smith, and Larry Ivery officiating, along with tributes by family members. Burial will follow at 3:30 PM Wednesday in Porter’s Memorial Park Cemetery in Tupelo, MS.
The family will receive friends at the Henderson Church of Christ beginning at 4:00 PM on Tuesday.
