Richard Joseph (Dick) Babiec
was born in Mattydale, New York on August 25, 1935 the son of the late Joseph and Wanda Babiec.
On October 10, 1987 he was united in marriage to Melvina Murphy, who preceded her husband in death on September 27, 2021.
Richard attended grade school in Mattydale, New York and high school at North Syracuse High in North Syracuse, New York. He later completed four years of college at Morrisville State University in Morrisville, New York. Richard served his country proudly in the United States Air Force from 1952 until 1962 obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He also was a veteran of the 174th Fighter Wing New York State Air National Guard. After moving to Hardin County and McNairy County area, Richard worked as a supervisor for Aqua Glass Corporation. He also started working at small residential maintenance, construction jobs, and drove gravel truck for Gibbs Gravel. Richard was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Savannah, Tennessee.
He departed this life on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at his residence in Morris Chapel, Tennessee at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 2 days.
Richard is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Cruzan; stepchildren, Virgal DeShazier, Cathy Little, Joann Rickman, Floyd DeShazier, Brenda Keele and her husband Jeff, Nita Scott and her husband Lawrence, Kenith Benishek, and Patty Dodge and her husband Joe; numerous grandchildren; and brother, Joseph Jr. Babiec and his wife Anita.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Katherine Tepper; stepsons, Bobby DeShazier and James DeShazier; son-in-law, Ray Cruzan; and stepsons-in-law, Paul Little and Buddy Rickman.
