Richard Haggard Black

Richard Haggard (Butch) Black was born September 28, 1921 in Waynesboro, Tennessee, the son of the late Richard Hanna and Nona Haggard Black. He was united in marriage to Joyce Sue Turman and she preceded him in death on December 27, 1990. Mr. Black was a retired pilot with the United States Army. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Waynesboro, Tennessee, a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of Masonic Lodge 127. Mr. Black departed this life on Friday, October 2, 2009 at Wayne Medical Center in Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 88 Years, 4 Days.He is survived by son, Richard Black and his daughter, Caroline Elizabeth Black and stepson, Bob Turman and his wife Sarah and their children, Cole, Drew, and Sarabeth all of Waynesboro, TN.Services will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Burl Graham and Ray Hollis Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery at Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Wayne County directing. Visitation will be Saturday, October 3, 2009 from 6 pm to 9 pm and Sunday, October 4, 2009 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the funeral home.
