Richard “Rick” Michael Witte

October 4, 2025 • Age 74

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Richard “Rick” Michael Witte, age 74, of Middleton, Tennessee, formerly of Bellevue, Kentucky. Rick entered into rest on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at his home, surrounded by love.

A proud graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Rick devoted 50 years of service to Dover Elevator as a Systems Analyst before retiring. His dedication, intelligence, and quiet dependability earned him the respect and friendship of everyone who worked beside him. Rick’s calm presence and problem-solving spirit left an enduring mark on the company and on those fortunate enough to call him a colleague and friend.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril and Margaret (nee White) Witte, and his sister-in-law, Betty (the late Elmer) Haas.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan (nee Birkenhauer) Witte; his brother, David Witte; brothers-in-law, Robert Birkenhauer and Murdock (Arlene) Birkenhauer; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Larry) Burton, Sandra (late Dennis) Kuhl, and Donna (Ron) King; along with many nieces and nephews who adored him.

Originally from Bellevue, Rick brought his kindness, humor, and steady spirit wherever he went — including here, where he became a cherished member of both his Middleton community and his Dover family. To those who knew him, Rick was more than a colleague, neighbor, or friend — he was someone who found joy in the little things, who shared laughter easily, and who faced life with humility and grace.

Joan was his constant companion and greatest treasure. Rick was a devoted fan of the Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Reds, and the University of Kentucky, and he approached every game and every day with that same good-natured enthusiasm that defined his life.

Rick’s laughter, compassion, and unwavering good humor will be remembered by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and laughter that will continue to inspire and comfort those whose lives he touched.

Rest in peace, Rick. Your warmth and light will forever remain in the hearts of your family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing you.
